Greer Family Letter 2018

“Glory to God in the highest, and on earth Peace goodwill to men.”
December 2018
Greetings all!
It's a beautiful, crispy, sunny yet chilly Texas afternoon in December and time for the Greer annual
chronicle.  We will be embracing technology again and this year’s missive will be traveling via the Net
instead of expensive postage and paper and envelopes.  Save a tree, you know. (I'm referring to the
money, not the envelopes.)

Our little family has thriven in the high desert of the second largest state of the Union, and we have
not yet had a single regret of our decision to move out here.  Highlights of the year on this ‘ere prairie
mesa include:

  • Enjoying the wonderful little waterpark our town provides, complete with slides and a lazy river.
  • We had to use wild horses to drag our girls away from the splashing cooling fun, and Isabella
  • gained great confidence in her swimming abilities.

  • Visits from friends and family who traveled great distances to see us.
  • Making tremendous progress on our house which should close escrow soon.  I have a beautiful
  • kitchen and two gorgeous bathrooms now, which I am thankful for every day! Uncle Glayde
  • and TJ are very skilled and worked hard together to make our new home comfortable.

  • Three weddings which were wonderful times of rejoicing in young lives united.
  • A weekend flight to California so I (Jenna) could see my dear cousin before she began
  • chemotherapy treatment.  I enjoyed our Lizzy’s company as my travel companion.

  • Another weekend trip, this time to Kansas about five hours away, for the memorial service
  • of my grandmother Elizabeth.  It was an amazing, beautiful, peaceful, and introspective time.
  • We also enjoyed good fellowship with some old friends we stayed with while there.

  • And lastly, a ten day "vacation" to California which was a dizzying whirlwind of visits to so many
  • friends and family and old stomping grounds and new young people to meet and folks to see it
  • made our heads spin.  It was a blessing to see them all and we experienced so much hospitality
  • and love. We especially loved meeting and getting to know our new little nephew for the first
  • time while there. We rejoice in two precious little nephews now, and our girls love their cousins!

Our eldest daughter, Isabella, turned three in the fall and is growing up to become a beautiful,
loving, smart young lady.  She is interested in reading, and wants to grow up “big like Mommy and
Daddy!” She is very motherly to all her dolls and toys and her younger sister, and puts them all to bed
multiple times a day.  She gets very excited about holidays and birthdays and likes telling people
“Happy birthday!” Bella likes to climb and run and try new things. Both girls get very excited about
the God and the Bible, and at bedtime prayers they yell “AMEN! Praise Jesus!”

Elizabeth turned two Thanksgiving week, and continues to be a bundle of hugs and love and smiles
and goodwill to all men.  She thinks the whole world is her friend, and is interested in all the people
we meet wherever we meet them. She held conversations with folks in the airport on our little trip,
and even argued with an airline pilot. (“Juice!” she pointed at his Starbucks cup. “It’s coffee, sweetie.”
“No, juice!” she insisted.)  Lizzy is our ray of Sunshine and we are so thankful for her.

May you be blessed this season.  Love,

T.J. 💗  Jenna 💗 Isabella 💗  Elizabeth
